Help Us Help More in the Media

Posted on 15 February 2023

AAPi's launch of the McKell Institute report and the Help Us Help More advocacy campaign at Parliament House yesterday resulted in substantial media coverage.

AAPi Director Sahra O'Doherty together with McKell's CEO Michael Buckland featured in a story on ABC's AM program which highlighted AAPi's calls for 8000 provisional psychologists to be eligible for the Medicare rebate.

Michael Buckland also spoke to ABC News Radio at length about the details in the report, detailing the recommendations that could be introduced to help boost the psychology workforce and decrease the gap between demand and supply.

Several radio stations in capital cities around the country also ran news stories on the release of the report and the call to the Federal Government for the 8000 provisional psychologists to be made eligible for the rebate. Sahra also discussed the topic on 2GB's Drive program this morning.

Sahra spoke on ABC News 24 on the topic, explaining that provisional psychologists are already working in the system but unable to offer a rebate. She discussed the two-tier system in detail and advocated for the Medicare rebate to be increased.
