AAPi Director Dr Katrina Norris spoke with Virginia Trioli on ABC Radio Melbourne today about potential changes to Victoria's WorkCover scheme.
Dr Norris said the likely removal of stress, anxiety and overwork from Victoria's WorkCover scheme from insurance claims would have detrimental effects on workers and the stigma around mental health.
"Stress makes up a large component of the mental health claims for workplace injury and accounts for $14.81 billion in costs to the economy," Dr Norris said.
"If a workplace is responsible for creating a stressful environment...then they should be supporting a worker to overcome that stress and get back to work so it costs the economy less."
