AAPi in the Media

Posted on 24 October 2023

AAPi Director Carly Dober is featured in this ABC article today, addressing some of the potential reasons behind extended separations for some couples.

Carly notes that factors such as children and financial considerations are key for many in the decision-making process, as well as legal and religious factors, and wanting to avoid knee-jerk decisions.

Carly says, “Children often play a large role in why couples choose to approach a separation slowly.

“Rents and mortgages have sky-rocketed across the country, and for some couples and family units it's just more appropriate to keep things as they are, even if the romantic relationship has ended.” Carly also notes that relationships "accordion in and out" during certain periods of time, so some people try to avoid "knee-jerk decisions".
