AAPi in the Media

Posted on 25 October 2023

AAPi Directors Sahra O’Doherty and Dr Bronwyn Milkins feature in this article by Western Independent, a platform showcasing news stories produced by journalism students at Curtin University, in Perth, addressing the varied ways we experience grief.

Sahra O’Doherty says grief is often a catalyst for change.

“Grief makes us reprioritise what is important to us in life,” she says.

Sahra notes that people experiencing grief usually struggle to accept how unpredictable it can be.

Dr Bronwyn Milkins goes on to say “Getting through grief can be a long-term process and there is almost no plan, ever. We’re just going to see what unfolds because it’s about meeting the person where they’re at in their grieving process and what their needs are.”
