AAPi in the Media

Posted on 29 January 2024

AAPi spoke to 2SM radio about the Federal Government's recently announced workforce incentives program for doctors working in rural and remote areas. AAPi has called on the government to create the same kind of incentive scheme for allied health professionals, including psychologists, given there are more than 200,000 allied health workers across the country helping to keep people well.

"There are people who are struggling with mental health in these areas, who cannot get support from a mental health professional like a psychologist," AAPi Director, Carly Dober, said.

"Their symptoms either worsen over time, which then impacts a whole host of things like physical and mental health. It's really important for people to be able to access quality mental health services that are affordable and where they don't have to wait too long."
