Without burning out

Psychologists are trained to recognise psychological risk in others. We assess it, name it, treat it. But when it comes to our own workplaces, our own roles, our own operating conditions - we are often the last ones to apply that same lens.

This presentation is about why that gap exists, what it costs us, and what it would look like to close it.

Drawing on clinical work with professionals experiencing psychological injury and organisational experience in psychosocial risk, this session explores why high-functioning distress is so consistently missed in our own profession - and why "coping" has become a baseline we've quietly accepted rather than a red flag worth investigating.

We'll look at the specific psychosocial hazards common in clinical and allied health settings, why standard wellbeing support doesn't address them, and what it means for us - as the people who understand this better than anyone - to start treating practitioner burnout as a systems problem rather than an individual one.

If you've ever written "resilience" into a job ad, stayed late because the need was there, or talked yourself out of your own exhaustion because your clients have it harder - this session is for you.

About our presenter:  Tenneile Manenti
Tenneile Manenti is a Registered Psychologist specialising in workplace psychology and psychosocial risk. She works across two streams: clinical practice supporting professionals with psychological injury and workplace-related mental health presentations, and organisational consulting helping professional services firms identify and manage psychosocial hazards at the systems level.

Tenneile brings a rare three-perspective lens to this work, having managed workers' compensation at the organisational level, navigated a serious workplace injury claim as a family member, and treated psychological injury clinically. She is the founder of Mind Logistics Psychology & Performance and The Business Psychologist, and MC'd the Knowledge Hub stage at the 2026 WHS Show Brisbane. She works with individuals and organisations across Australia via telehealth and in person on the Gold Coast.
