Biography:

Charley is a Clinical Psychologist and ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician, who brings qualities of warmth, curiosity, sensitivity, and sincerity to their therapeutic work with clients, as well as a quirky sense of humour when appropriate. Working from a trauma-informed, de-pathologising, strengths-based, neurodiversity and identity affirming approach, Charley values co-creating collaborative therapeutic relationships based in warmth and acceptance, to support clients in feeling safe, heard, seen, understood, and empowered.

Charley is committed to providing therapeutic care that centres safety, respect, inclusion, and accessibility for clients of all identities, genders, body-types, and neurotypes - especially those who may feel stigmatised, marginalised, or unseen in traditional healthcare spaces. Charley is especially passionate about supporting clients from the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities, to which they proudly belong.

Areas of experience and special interest include:

- Neurodiversity-affirming support: Particularly suited for adults with late-identified (or suspected) autism, ADHD, or high sensitivity who seek to cultivate greater self-understanding, self-compassion, empowerment in unmasking, and support in managing the challenges of living in a neurotypical world.

- Eating and body image concerns: Particularly suited for adults experiencing binge eating difficulties, other specified feeding and eating difficulties (OSFED), body image concerns, and eating differences related to neurodivergence. Charley’s treatment approach is underpinned by principles aligned with size inclusive, weight-neutral, non-diet approaches to health enhancement. Please note, Charley is unable to accept new referrals for acute anorexia nervosa presentations at this time.

- Experiences related to being part of the LGBTQIA+ community: Affirming support around gender, sexuality, and identity exploration.

- General wellbeing and mental health concerns: Support for challenges related to stress, burnout, self-criticism, life transitions, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and healing from the impacts of historical complex trauma.

Charley tailors therapy to each client's unique needs, drawing on various evidence- based therapeutic frameworks including:

- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Compassion Focused Therapy
- Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion
- Interpersonal Therapy
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills Training
- Schema Therapy
- Specialist Supportive Clinical Management
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Enhanced
