Biography:
Emerson Nottingham is a Registered Psychologist and experienced NESA accredited teacher with a special interest in complex trauma. Emerson has a master's degree in Education (Educational Psychology), a master's degree in Psychological Practice and is a current PhD student at the University of New South Wales researching the effects of complex trauma on learning. Emerson has experience working across the lifespan, from preschool to adults. In addition to private practice, Emerson works within Education and is experienced in providing cognitive and behavioural assessment for Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disorder (eg. dyslexia), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct and oppositional defiance disorders, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Emerson regularly works with children and adults affected by complex trauma, particularly stemming from family violence, abuse or neglect. Emerson provides evidence based interventions such as Trauma Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy in addition to teaching DBT skills. Emerson uses a range of evidence based assessment tools to evaluate the presence of other mental health disorders, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD. She works collaboratively with clients and/or families to establish treatment goals and an evidence-based treatment plan.
