Participation in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision has been integral to offering an effective clinical service. Her foundation training included Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Schema Therapy. A keen interest in how early attachment experiences impact adult lives, including laying the foundations for psychological difficulties, has culminated in Anne studying Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). She expects to complete the final year of the three-year core training program in 2024.
ISTDP examines how anxiety-provoking emotions shape relationships and connections. With a strong focus on challenging defences, as they occur in session, this unique therapeutic approach allows patients to experience hidden or trapped emotions and develop insights into the linkages with problematic thinking and behaviours. ISTDP’s evidence base highlights its effectiveness in helping people with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality problems, and medically unexplained physical symptoms.
